Department of Imaging Diagnosis
Time:2024.12.03

The Imaging Diagnosis Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (including Sanxiang Campus and Xuguan Campus) is currently a key clinical specialty in Jiangsu Province, a key clinical specialty in Suzhou City, the Quality Control Center of Medical Imaging in Suzhou City, and a doctoral and masters degree awarding point for clinical medicine of Soochow University, as well as a national standardized training base for resident physicians in radiology. There are a total of 161 medical and nursing personnel, including 62 physicians (11 chief physicians and 17 associate chief physicians), 72 technicians (1 chief technician and 10 associate chief technicians); 8 PhDs and 7 PhD students. There is 1 doctoral supervisor and 6 masters supervisors. The department have a total of 5 professional groups: Neuro-head&neck, Chest, Abdomen, Spine-Muscular&Skeletal, Cardiovascular.

The department is well-equipped with both software and hardware facilities. It has 5 sets of 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including 1 Siemens Prisma scanner and 2 Philips Ingenia scanners; 10 sets of spiral CT machines, including the US GE Revolution 256-slice spiral CT and the Philips IQon spectral CT; 2 sets of Japanese digital gastrointestinal angiography machines; 2 sets of digital mammography machine each from Siemens and Philips; oral CT machines and multiple other digital X-ray imaging devices; 5 sets of angiographic X-ray machines; and has introduced multiple artificial intelligence technologies for application in imaging research and clinical analysis, etc. The "Sino-French (Suzhou-Grenoble) Magnetic Resonance Remote Consultation Center" was established in 2003.

All kinds of imaging examination techniques have been maturely carried out, including many new techniques: vascular imaging (such as coronary CT artery imaging, carotid-cerebral and limb vascular imaging, pulmonary artery and portal vein and other various visceral vascular imaging), CT functional imaging techniques (including perfusion imaging, energy spectrum imaging), magnetic resonance functional imaging techniques (including magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging, spectroscopy imaging, perfusion imaging, susceptibility-weighted imaging, blood oxygen level-dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging, etc.), providing fast, non-invasive, accurate and low-radiation-dose examination techniques for clinical practice, and playing an important role in tumor screening and early diagnosis. The department has formed relatively distinct technical characteristics in the application research of molecular imaging, functional imaging and new technologies of artificial intelligence, the basic and clinical research of lung cancer and prostate tumors, the imaging research of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and the magnetic resonance structural and functional imaging research of neurodegenerative diseases. Many projects have won provincial and municipal medical new technology awards. In recent years, it has successively undertaken 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, more than 20 scientific research projects at the provincial, municipal and departmental levels, received 5 provincial and municipal science and technology awards, and has published nearly 200 academic papers (including SCI and Chinese series papers).
